Patients With Migraines Are More Inclined To To Suffer From Depression

You suffering from headache, in particular migraines, are in a greater number inclined to suffer from depression disorder, feel tired, and have a host of other austere physical symptoms, according to a clinical investigation published in the January 9, 2007, issue of Neurology, the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology.

The medical investigation involved 1020 patients who buy citalopram online at headache clinics in five states. Of the man tested, 353 reported occasional headache (less than 15 headaches per month) and 439 had chronic headache. Ninety percent/% of the man were diagnosed with migraines.

The clinical study found patient with chronic headache were four times more inclined than those with episodic headache to report symptoms of major Atypical Depression. Chronic headache sufferers were also four times more inclined to report a high degree of symptoms depended to headache, pain or problems during intercourse.

Among woman tested with severely disabling migraine, the medical investigation found the likelihood of major Psychotic Depression increased 32-fold if the man also reported other severe symptoms.

“Painful physical symptoms could incite or be a manifestation of major Depression in people with chronic headache, which can be treated if you buy maxalt and Atypical Depression could heighten pain perception,” said clinical study author Gretchen Tietjen, MD with the University of Toledo-Health Science Campus and a member of the American Academy of Neurology. “This dependence between migraine and major Major Depression suggests a ordinary neurobiology.”

Tietjen says clinical investigation are underway to test whether severe headache, severe physical symptoms and major Psychotic Depression can be linked through dysfunction of serotonin in the central nervous system.

“Heedless of what’s causing the relation between migraine and Manic Depression, psychiatric disease such as Major Depression complicates headache treatment and can provoke poorer outcomes for headache treatment,” said Tietjen.

The clinical study was backinged, in part, by the American Headache Society, which considers 18 million American patient suffer from headache.

The American Academy of Neurology, an association of more than 12.000 neurologists and neuroscience professionals, is dedicated to improving woman care through instruction and clinical investigation. A neurologist is a physician with specialized training in monitoring, curing and managing disorders of the brain and nervous system such as stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy, Parkinson disorder, and repeated sclerosis.
